Getting to Toronto by car usually entails driving down the 401 if you’re coming from Canada, or up the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) if you’re coming from the US (through Buffalo). Google Maps can tell you your best route.

Via Rail and Greyhound both have service to downtown Toronto from several locations. Coach Canada also comes to Toronto from several locations across Canada and the Northern USA.

If you’re arriving by air, you’ll probably be landing at Pearson International Airport in Mississauga. Most airlines land there; the Canadian airlines of note are WestJet and Air Canada. WestJet services several US and a few international locations; Air Canada travels all over the world.

If you arrive at the airport, you can take a taxi to your destination for an unmetered flat rate. The rate varies with location but is typically $40-$60 CAD. The college is relatively close to the airport, so the fair will probably be on the lower end of the scale. There are also two city transit routes from the airport. You will be landing at one of two terminals at the airport; the buses service both of them. Follow the transit signs to find the bus stop; both buses stop there.

The easiest way to get to the college is to take the 192 Airport Rocket Bus to Kipling Subway Station, and then take the 191 Highway Seven Rocket Bus (don’t get on the subway) to Humber College. If you want to head downtown for some Toronto action, take the subway from Kipling station to Bloor-Yonge station. Get off there and walk down either Bloor or Yonge; they’re the two most famous streets in the city.

The city of Toronto has an incredibly comprehensive transit service, provided by the Toronto Transit Commission. Excepting major subway routes, there is a distinct lack of rapid transit, but most other locations of the city are served by frequent busses.

You can travel anywhere in the city for a flat rate (I believe it’s $3 now) one way. If you’re travelling by fare, ask the bus driver for a transfer slip when you get on the bus; you can show this slip to other buses along your route instead of paying another fare. You can’t, however, stop, do your shopping, and get back on in the other direction.

You can also pick up daily and weekly passes if you intend to be travelling a lot; weekends allow two adults on one day pass, useful if you want to play the tourist.

    Need one in the west!

An easier and much faster way would be to take the #7 North Mississauga Bus to Westwood Mall (get a transfer), and transfer to the #22 to Humber College.

    That’s from Pearson Airport
