I’ll be honest now. I haven’t registered because I’m on a budget and I don’t see the value. $100 seems a bit steep even with the swag and catering. Are speakers being paid? I also don’t understand how a difference in registration date can increase the registration cost by 100%.
Would it be possible to attend with a very basic swagless registration?
Hi Loui,
Our primary costs are:
* Schwag for attendees (bag, t-shirt, printed schedule, lanyard, conference badge holder)
* Classroom rental for two classrooms
* Catering for breaks and lunch meal
Overall, the fees will not be covering the cost of the conference. Luckily, Aaron has donated money from the Arch Donation’s Fund, and I think we’re going to about break even. If we’re still a bit short, I’m planning to cover the remainder out of income I make from Schwag purchases.
We do have a $20 “volunteer” rate, now, as discussed here:

Basically, if you’ll agree to prop me and Ricardo up by running errands and the registration desk and essentially keeping us from being completely run off our feet, you can get this lower rate, including Schwag.
